FAQ

What can I talk about in therapy?

You're welcome to bring whatever feels important.  This might include feelings of anxiety or depression, difficulties in relationships, low self-esteem, experiences from your past, questions around identity, or a general sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed.  You don’t need to have everything figured out - we can explore things together at your pace.

How often will we meet?

I usually suggest starting with weekly sessions, as this helps create a steady and supportive rhythm for our work. We can agree on a regular day and time that suits us both, and adjust as needed as things progress.

How long will I need to come to therapy?

I offer open-ended therapy, meaning we can work together for as long as it feels helpful.  Some people come for a few months, others for longer - it really depends on what you need and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy.  We’ll check in regularly to make sure it continues to feel useful.

Do you offer in-person and online sessions?

Yes - I work both in-person from my private home office in Warsop, near Mansfield, and online via Zoom.  Some clients like to combine the two, and I'm happy to offer a flexible arrangement where possible.

Do you offer a free introductory chat?

Yes - I do offer a short introductory video call if you'd find that helpful. It's not a therapy session, but more of a chance to meet and see whether working together might feel like the right fit. These calls usually last around 15–20 minutes, and you're welcome to ask any questions about how I work or what you're hoping for from therapy.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions are £60 for 50 minutes and can be paid for via BACS (bank transfer).  I also accept cash payments for in-person sessions.

What if I need to cancel a session?

I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations.  If a session is cancelled with less notice, or missed without letting me know, it may be charged in full.  I understand that unexpected things come up - we can talk about what feels fair and manageable.

Do you offer any concessionary rates?

Unfortunately, I do not offer any concessionary rates at this time.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

It’s important that you feel safe and comfortable with whoever you choose to work with. Our first session is a chance to get a sense of how it feels to talk together - there’s no obligation to continue.  I’ll also be honest if I feel another kind of support might be a better fit for your needs.

Are you experienced in working with specific issues or communities?

I work with a wide range of concerns, and I have particular experience in supporting people around self-esteem, identity, anxiety, depression, and relationship patterns.  I also have experience working with neurodivergent clients and people from LGBTQIA+ and GSRD communities, and I aim to offer a space that feels affirming and inclusive.

What about confidentiality?
What you share in therapy stays between us, except in rare situations where I have a legal or ethical responsibility to break confidentiality (e.g. if there’s a serious risk of harm). I’ll explain this in more detail before we begin.

What’s the best way to get started?

You’re very welcome to get in touch to ask any questions or arrange an initial session.  I’ll respond with care - and never any pressure.  Before we meet, I’ll send you some pre-therapy information so you know what to expect.
